Even if the club adopts a policy of prohibiting the sale of slabbed chips in club venues, that will STILL not prohibit members from collecting them if they choose to do so.

If by that you mean you will leave the club, it will be a loss for the club -- but, even more so, a loss for you. I'm not a big fan of the "if I don't get my way I'm taking my ball and going home" approach to conflict resolution. But, I feel very confident that only a very small number of members, if any, will actually leave the club, no matter how this plays out. And, frankly, I believe the club will go on quite nicely without them.
