It is funny, but while I was typing this post I was unaware of the above post. So be it. Here is what I typed:

My main interest --virtually my only interest-- in the chapter membership rosters was to find out that percent of the chapter members that were not national members. I thought that was an important statistic to know for the debate over the amendment. I just wanted the numbers, and I said I'd figure them out if they didn't have the time to get them themselves.

(Incidentally, most organizations are happy to give out membership lists so their members can better correspond with each other and also learn of special interests they share with other members. (These special interests are listed in the membership lists.) The CCGTCC always would supply a membership list, for a few dollars, to any member who asked for one.)

Asking for one's chapter's membership list is no sin.

All this started in September or October, when I wanted to learn what percent of the chapters membership were not national members. I knew that was an important thing to know for the debate over the chapter duespayers amendment. I have the email on the matter. In October I sent this email out to the national secretary, the person who is supposed to receive the rosters from the chapters. It is typical of all the email I sent :

thanks for the reply.
But I already knew that they didn't have to be Club members.
But regardless of that,:
(1) don't you think you (or someone; I would) should write to the non-Club
members to ask them to join the Club?
(2) wouldn't it be nice to know how many (or what percent) are not club
members? Wouldn't that be useful for the amendment vote? (I'd count it if you
couldn't.)

And would you please tell me if the A.C. chapter sent in the list?

I was discreet. Again, I only wanted the national to get what was due it under the bylaws. I urged them to get the figures and write the non-members, asking them to join the national. I said I'd do it if they couldn't do it themselves or find others to do it, once they got the chapter rosters.

It was like pulling teeth writing to the national. In October I was told they probably did not have the Atlantic City list. In November he said he didn't have the list for sure, but he suggested that I ask as a member of the AC chapter (big joke). I replied that he should have the list according to the bylaws. So then he emailed Brach, the president of the chapter. Then he told me he got no reply from Brach, and that he would see Brach soon and ask him personally. I emailed him in December and January and got no reply. So in FEBRUARY I emailed another national club official who said, incorrectly, that the chapter was only obliged to send the national names in, not those chapter members who were not national members!

So I had to assume that the roster was never sent in. At this point I would not believe any figures that any of these characters came up with. I tried to act like a gentleman and with discretion in all of this. What a waste....
