I asked a friend of mine, who is a dealer of postage stamps, about slabbing in the stamp collecting hobby. He sent the following email:

"ICG was the company that offerred stamp slabbing. They ran a major ad
campaign for about 6 months last year....full page ads with an asian woman
holding a slabbed stamp, in all the major stamp publications. Saw an article
recently showing dealer resistence to slabbing. I can't find them listed in any recent dealer directories, they don't advertise any more.....my guess, they gave up and pulled out of the philatelic market.

Hope this info helps."

He says that he was unaware of any protests against slabbing. Just very litte interest on the part of collectors.

When the collectors aren't interested, the commercial interests leave for greener pastures.
