On the west coast, Nevada and Southern California, chip collectors who are not members of the CC>CC can attend a number of chip shows each year. No one has a problem with that. In other places, namely Colorado, Florida, New Jersey and New York, and other places, there are no local chip shows (currently) and the only local activities for chip collectors is to attend a chapter meeting. Although it is no ones fault, it has just worked out this way, it is somewhat unfair to chip collectors who happen to live in places other than Nevada and Southern California ... should they not be a member of the CC>CC. The issue of whether a chip collector is a member of the CC>CC in order to be a chapter member and attend a chapter event is now a big controversary.
What can be done about this situation? Although it is not my ideal solution, perhaps the following idea can satisfy both sides of the chapter memberhship issue. Instead of the chapters holding regular meetings, instead they should sponser regular chip shows. The shows would be open to everyone, member of the CC>CC or not. To conduct the business of the chapter, a separate meeting of only chapter members would take place either before, after or at a completely different time than the show.
What do you think? Before responding, please remember that:
1) I am 100% in favor all chip collectings joining the CC>CC
2) I am trying to look for common groung to unite the membership on this issue
3) The eyes of the world are upon us, please be civil
