Jim,
First, I figure that neither of us is going to convince the other on this one. And since it is not a matter of a decision rendered as a result of the conversation, but rather a vote of from the membership on the ammendment...I sent my ballot in already.<g>
Geez Jim, you write an elowuent post. What I would like you to do (please humor me) is put the disection phrase by phrase aside for a minute. Place yourself in the room at a meeting of the Chapter. The Chapter President takes the podium and advises those in attendence that the Club's membership has just passed an ammendment that substantially reverses the rule on Chapter membership requirements back to where they were when the Chapter was first formed, when the current president took office. He further states that he will not comply and the Chapter has essentially two choices; either elect a new President, or drop out as a CC>CC Chapter.
Jim, that giant sucking sound is the collective breathe leaving the meeting room. That is the rush to the door to which I am refering, and it can be real. I am talking about the let down that can occur when the leaders decide to work outside the system.
I don't believe that either of us would leave based on the outcome of the ammendment vote, and I certainly do NOT want Charles to leave. I think has done a great job forming and running the NY Metro Chapter. BTW Jim, Charles knows that too, he and I have corresponded over this. We understand each other and are still getting out to dinner at the convention.
I really prefer not to dissect any one individuals remarks in such a public forum, I'm sure he had his reasons for making his remarks. Just let it suffice to say that I reacted to the "I will not comply" when I guess I really wanted to hear, "Dam it passed, I'm going to work to have it changed back."
