Sounds like a "Las Vegas Dollar", Dick. Catalog number is 941.0 in the Nevada Casino Promo Tokens book, and valued at $6-8. You can probably date it by looking at which of the clubs listed are now gone, and their date of closing.

There is also a nickel-silver version with the same value, as well as 4 other different LV Dollars with different reverse designs. All these have the inmage of a US silver dollar or $20 gold piece on the obverse.
