Yes, it is a straw man I created to bring a point to the extreme as to why it is important for any one who truly is interested in the club to be part of the club.

Though our club can never lose what we don't have, we can gain so much more than we never had.

We need Fred more than he needs us. Why do you think we've been screaming for him to come join us.
We're hurt. We're hurt that he enjoys what we enjoy, but not enough to roll up his sleevs to punch the grapes.
