Charles:
I could not agree with you more. That is one of the reasons I stepped down as
President of The Floridian chapter. The CC>CC has the rights to makes rules
(this I do not dispute) but does not understand the need for local people to be
involved in a chapter without being a member of the main club.
Currently, with the number of chapters we have now, it cost each member over
$100 a years in dues to belong to all the chapters. There is no restrictions as to if a member outside an area can belong to a particular chapter or not. There are also not restrictions to the number of chapters one can join. It seems that anybody can create a chapter anytime they want, thus splintering a current chapter into smaller groups, without the intervention of the CC>CC but allow a non member to attend a local function you are branded for taking away moneys from the nationals pocket.
I can not stress the fact that there are many people who can provide chapter's with information on local gambling activities that have no interest in joining a chapter. These people are valuable to the sharing of information of the history and/or current affairs of a local area, which if offered a membership in a chapter will continue come and thus continue to share their knowledge. These people, if forced to join a national club, will again drop from sight and we will all lose.
I will also state that if this amendment passes the CC>CC and any chapter can
lose their rights to any of their meetings at the FUN convention.
