... Rene, but what I don't like most at the moment is the attempt by ICG to force on the hobby its unwanted service.
>> Its one thing to boycott a dealer.
>> But it seems like the anti slap movement is trying to bully people.
Rene, I was at the anti-slabbing table all but a few hours of your show. No one was being bullied. We handed out buttons, sold a few t-shirts, signed a few people on the anti-slabbing list and explained our position to anyone who asked. During the time I was there, no one was called any names, no one was degraded and no one was forced to do anything they didn't want to do.
>> One of the Anti Slabbers called John Yee and ASSHOLE at my show because
>> he won't publish and article exactly they way the guy wants it.
>> I know who said but i won't mention names.
>> Its up the person to stand up and make a public apology.
>> Because I think John Yee is doing a great job with the club magazines.
I didn't see or hear this take place, but I think you have done a disservice to the vast majority of collectors opposed to slabbing by posting this information without identifying the person involved. John and Allan have done a great job with the magazine and I told them so at the show. I even gave John an anti-slabbing button!
>> I had 2 dealers complain to me and they don't want a table next to the
>> anti slabbers next show. They said to much bad stuff was being said there.
I don't know what you (or they) mean by "bad stuff", but during the hours I was there, the conversation was polite and civil. I personally visited the ICG booth, introduced myself (and advised the ICG rep that I was #1 on "The List") and had a pleasant conversation. ICG (and dealers who might like to cash in on slabbing) may not like our message, but if that's what they mean by "bad stuff", then I say "too bad".
>> I think its good to share you opinions and you should promote what you
>> believe in. But it seems like you guys are starting to bully people.
Please be specific. In what way is anyone being "bullied"? Signing up for the list is voluntary. There is no enforcement other than each person acting on his own conscience. I think the long and short of it is, some people who thought they were going to cash in on this now see the possibility that organized opposition is going to prevent that economic bonanza. Well, too bad again.
>> Its your way or we will try to destroy you.
That's BS, Rene. We're not trying to "destroy" anyone or anything. We're trying to see that slabbing does not take hold in our hobby. Everyone has a choice here, including the dealers who want to sell slabbed chips. They can go ahead and sell them -- they'll just have to do so knowing that a significant number of collectors will stop buying from them.
>> You know i am a history stuff and i think this type
>> of attitude happended before in the 1930's.
That comment is so far off base I'm not even going to try to refute it.
>> I hope you guys are not gonna wear BROWN SHIRTS at the convention.
I am going to have anti-slabbing t-shirts printed, using Dick Covington's artwork. The shirts will be YELLOW, though, not brown.
>> Why can't we just let everyone make their own decsisions.
>> I collect what I want no matter what.
We are letting everyone make their own decisions. I have said (repeatedly) collect whatever you want, including slabbed chips. Sell whatever you want, including slabbed chips (just doing so knowing there will be consequences).
