I have both programs installed on my computer. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.... for instance Virtual Coin Cabinet is for both PC and MAC platforms whereas CheckMate is for PC only.
However.... when you factor in that Checkmate is less expensive and is specifically made for cataloging chips (rather than for coins/numismatics) I think it is a better value.
I have sold over 50 copies of CheckMate in the past two months and I have heard nothing but praise about the program and about the technical support given by Carole (the "C" in K&C Enterprises). I myself use it and find it wonderful. In fact I joke that I am enjoying my chips more now by just "Clicking through" the images rather than dragging them out of the safe....
The thing I like best about the program is that all the fields (casino name, mold, denomination) have all the items already listed in drop down menus which makes adding chips really easy by just clicking your mouse (very little keyboard entry).
