Interesting question. I'd argue most of the countries that still have kings/queens have pretty much changed since 1776 in reducing the pøwer of the monarch. Sweden and Norway split up in 1905, so that changed those. I guess the Vatican if you count it as a country rather than a city/state. Also San Marino and Monaco. (Monaco's monarch hasn't had his power reduced.) On the other hand, and I'm sure this will be controversial with our more conservative board readers, I'd argue the U.S.'s form of government has changed since 1776. Back in 1776 we were ruled by a minority since only white males who owned land could vote. Women, minorities and the poor were all disenfranchised. Today the majority of Americans are able to vote, which in my opinion, changes our form of government into much more of a true Democracy.
