Although I was a math major and not an English major, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that an extraneous space was inserted between the single and double quote at the end of the sentence. Also, the period belongs after the double quote and not inside it.
Single and double quotation marks are both used to indicate the beginning and end of a quotation. I'm not sure if highlighting a letter is subject to the same grammatical rules. Whew!!!
