There are a few viruses out there in which all you have to do is download the e-mail to your computer, no attachment to open, & BAM, you've got it. The payload is contained in a signature file that the virus adds on to the e-mail that IT sends out to all the people listed in your address book or to anyone you send an e-mail to.
I was sent one of these viruses back in Nov., can't recall what it was called, by a fellow ebayer. To make a long story short, the guy had to format his hard drive to recover from it.
Lesson to be learned, make sure you've got anything you can't afford to lose backed up on a floppy, zip disk, CD, etc...
