When I started the 1st ANNUAL Andy Mercer Memorial 9-Ball Classic back in 1990 I used the word for two reasons. It sounds better, number one! The other reason is that both pool & poker tournaments sometimes have the same tournament held more than once a year with the same name. For instance, the Sands Regency Reno Open pool tournament held twice a year. Andy - Las Vegas
