(The following post was made on the club's message board at www.ccgtcc.com and is reposted here for those who have not visited lately..... it's YOUR influence that counts. Use it!)
.... "Interestingly enough, over 90% of those we spoke with and showed the product to in Las Vegas gave ICG positive feedback (the rest with generally neutral feedback). Were they polite and unwilling to tell us the truth?"
I wonder who were the 90% of those Mr. Taylor spoke with at that now-infamous coin show held at Tropicana recently? 9 out of 10 respondents is an amazing demonstration of support for ICG .... and the other 10% "gave ICG generally nuetral feedback". Perhaps there were only ten people in a captive audience that Mr. Taylor spoke to when he measured their responses. Were they provided with complimentary refreshments while they were being told about this revolutionary new concept about to be unveiled?
Should we believe those percentages given, simply because Mr. Taylor told us so? Are we to put the same level of trust on the grades that Mr. Taylor's firm assigns to chips submitted to ICG for grading/slabbing? Were they chippers that ICG spoke to at this coin show or were they coin collectors, or maybe relatives of the pricipals of the firm? Were they perhaps coin dealers who had tables and who are desireous to become representatives for ICG in their new chip fields to conquer? If so, it gives a whole new definition to the term "harvesting". Perhaps they were chippers who were looking for a new occupation as "professional graders"? According to all the posts I've read, it would not appear that Mr. Taylor spoke to anyone who holds a responsible position in the world's largest organization that represents chip collectors (CC & GTCC). Wouldn't a resonable person expect a company to feel-out the elected spokespersons for the hobby that Mr. Taylor's firm is about to force themselves onto? Or was this intended as a sneak attack? Did Mr. Taylor receive an invitation to display his potential chip product at the Tropicana Las Vegas coin show? If so, by whom? Why isn't Mr. Taylor more up-front with responding to this and many other concerns by those at the grass-roots level in this hobby? Who are those very knowledgeable people whom ICG has lined up across the country to grade our chips?
Do you have the same or similar questions that I have posed? Well, only Mr. Taylor knows the answers ... and he ain't saying.
