>>>Well this was a though one. I am a promoter and not a judge. I guess according to the poll's 31%
of people are in favor of slapping. Anybody who wants a booth can have one. As long as i still
have some availabel. There are gonna be dealers there which i don't have a great history with. I
will not go against them. Its like me saying i don't agree with roulette collectors so i won't let
anybody set up with roulette chips. BTW i do love roulettes. I guess what i am trying to say is i am
not for it. But this is a free country and i feel as a promoter its my duty to be neutral and let
everybody's voice be heard. As long as they follow my rules at the show. I think that is the right
thing to do.
But you won't see me slapping any chips.>>>>>
On this particular issue, I agree with Rene. Although I have no chips of any value (as the majority of mine are commemoratives and worth at most $7.00 each)
I certainly have no use for a slabbing service and as the majority of people feel, I am against it in principle.
However, I do feel that Rene should sell a booth, if available, to anyone who has a chip related item. None of us has to visit his booth, buy his product or have anything to do with him. If he does by any chance purchase a booth and does not do well at the show, he will get the idea of our feelings quite rapidily and will probably discontinue his service. But let him make the decision.
On a personal level, contrary to a position a dealer might have, I am against
the slabbing of chips due to the fact that the price I might have to pay might increase because of the extra cost involved. And being that I care less about the increased "value" of chips (as I do not ever intend to sell any of my collection,) I want to be able to buy at the least expensive price.
I know just who I am dealing with and trust my contacts that I have been doing business with over an extended period of time and know what to expect from each person. I don't need an outside "experts" opinion telling me what a "C" chip is worth.
