Grading Standards
In Response To: ICG information and response ()

Mr. Taylor,

I appreciate your post on ICG's position regarding the slabbing of casino chips. My take is that, for one, it shows how little ICG understands the chip collecting hobby. I personally feel that grading of casino chips will not catch on and that this will become a non-issue in the near future.

The burning issue that enters my mind is grading. Unlike the coin INDUSTRY, where there are multiple, ever changing, grading systems, there are absolutely no standards for the grading casino chips. There is one publication that has attempted to define a standard, but it is by no means widely accepted. How do you grade casino chips? Are your grading criteria published some place? Where?
