Check the PCGS eBay link that Archie provided. Or just look at this one eBay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=528012123
It is for a year 2000-D State of Virginia 25 cent coin, slabbed as an MS-67, with an opening bid of $49.95 and current bid of $66.00. This is a coin of which they are making hundreds of millions!! This year. Right now.
>> Slabbing them has no bearing on the price!
John, you are ever so wrong about that. And it will have a bearing not only on the price of the slabbed chip itself, but every other one of the same chip, even if not slabbed. Guaranteed (at least until the bubble bursts).

I respect your feeling that all you want out of the club is 4 magazines and a convention. Others have different feelings. I have been through coins, stamps and trading cards and have no desire to repeat the frustrations and disappointments that I experienced in those hobbies (a significant portion of which, with respect to coins and cards, I attribute to slabbing).
BTW, fantasy chips HAVE caused problems and if you read my posts regularly you know I have been active in attempting to curb those problems, particularly on eBay. The overall harm caused by fantasy chips is insignificant compared to the potential damage posed by slabbing. ----- jim o\-S
