"Much of Archie's objection to slabbing revolve's around the fact that people can remove slabs chips from slabs and submit them for regrading in order to obtain a better grade. Under your system, the seller could save himself the cost of reslabbing, he can just misrepresent the assigned grade."
While your quote is basically correct, it goes much further than that. I object to the fact that many of these coins (and now possibly chips) are incorrectly graded to begin with. Otherwise, there would be no need to remove them from the "slabs". On the other hand, coins (chips) that are overgraded (and overpriced) largely remain unsold in a dealer's inventory until someone who does not know how to grade comes along and blindly accepts what is printed on the certificate that the grading company has assigned.
Your hypothetical "what-if" laundry list overstates anything that those in favor of prohibiting slabbed chips at club conventions and club auctions had addressed. "What if" a blind lady with her seeing-eye dog tapped her white cane three times to identify an uncirulated chip housed in a silver strike holder?
Gimme a break!
