....Jim. I have stated that I have no problem with the club rejecting slabbed chips in the convention auction. I also have no problem with the club magazine rejecting advertising for such services. But, it appears to me that slabbing is going to happen. I think the way to reduce or erase the impact on our hobby, and possibly eliminate it after it does begin is contained in a post that I made that is now buried way down on the BB. It read...
...perhaps not trying to put any restrictions on dealers selling slabbed chips on the bourse floor could have a positive effect when they find out that MOST collectors will choose to shun slabbed chips. Don't get me wrong on this issue, I'm also totally against chip slabbing. I just think that some of the people who currently think they can profit from it should be given a chance to have the idea shoved completely down their throats by witnessing a real-life reaction to the practice, something along the line of what has been proposed already by some chip collectors, i.e., boycotting (don't buy anything from them, slabbed or not) those who try to sell slabbed chips. If they think they can make more money by grading and slabbing chips, they need to be SHOWN that they can't.
A side note.....chippers can be proud that we have a forum that doesn't censor people by removing their posts, and we use our real names. ICG removed ALL of the posts that I made on their BB, all made to annonymous screen names.....
Bob :-)
