Gene...thought I was an expert at cherry picking coins that were undergraded. That worked for awhile until the market went down. Should have collected chips a lot sooner <G>. What we have not associated with coins is the discovery factor ie the recent Thunderbird find etc. Mintage of coin is pretty common knowledge grading tries to offset those numbers somewhat...even for common coins.(see Archie's post). The bottom line is collect what you like but always keep in mind there has to be a buyer for what you have if your intent is not to collect but to speculate. It would be great to have that $100 Flamingo in my collection...I wouldn't shell out the 12.5 k though...I think there are a lot of chips out there you can pay less for that are more desireable in rarity.
