He had the 49'ER chips on his site attributed to an Alaska game runner.(moving gambling operation). He had a good story with them and the years of operation and the name of the operator if I remember correctly.
I have the $5 & $25 49'er. Same font. I have them listed as LV. I think the Alaska attributation put them in doubt.
To answer your question, the old distributors had no problem issuing duplicate chips even though the boxes said non-duplicate. I have a number of Mason file cards with the exact same chip sent to 5 and 6 different names and different parts of the US.
