Without knowing the details of the discussion it would be hard to say for certain. It is likely that there is (or was) a contract between them, however the amount of money that we would be talking about as damages would not even be worth the time spent thinking about it.

Even if Andy were wrong in this instance (I am offering no opinion on this), Andy has built the kind of reputation that wouldn't be destroyed by one dispute with one buyer.
