Recently I had the good fortune to make to purchase two obsolete $100 chips from the Cal Neva in Reno. I was anxious to add one to my collection and to recoup some of my investment with the other. The chips were described as having an hourglass mold.
I looked up the chip in the Chip Rack and Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide. I found that both listed the chip in question but that the basic chip color was described as GRAY in the CR and BEIGE in the OUSCCPG. I was curiuos to see which guide seemed like it viewed the color correctly.
As it turned out, both did. It turns out there are two distinct varieties of $100 Cal Neva (Reno) Hourglass Mold chips. Not only is the color different but so are the numbers in the denomination.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
