Fact... I was watching your auction and another for this chip, since I had bought one for my wife's growing Pavoratti chip collection, and was interested to see how the price we paid compared to what they would bring on eBay. I saw it was at $51 for days. I didn't pay any attention to who was high bidder. But from the bid history, we can pretty much reconstruct what had to have happened.
Dshron's last bid was at Nov-15-00 16:56:43 PST. Chezparee made a bid of $61.88 at Nov-19-00 15:39:09 PST, and retracted it about 20 minutes later.
Now for the speculation. We know eBay never shows the maximum a person bids if the proxy is greater than the amount necessary to make that person high bidder and/or meet the reserve. That is why the highest number we now see for dshron is $36, even though we can be confident he (or she) bid more. I believe it is a good assumption that chezparee would not have retracted her bid if she were not high bidder at the time. Why retract your bid if you're not going to win the auction anyhow? Therefore we can deduce that chezparee had the high bid of $61.88 immediately before the retraction. We cannot tell what her maximum bid was. Dshron's high bid was most likely one bid increment less than the retracted bid of $61.88, or $60.88.
Yes, most of my post was directed at Archie. I don't know who these people are. But the bid history is there for anyone to see. It's not rocket science.
