Best or worst case you should do it once a month at most. If you have trouble somewhere, best to get it checked out, but mostly 98 is a much more stable program than 95 was. Out of sync sounds like it could be a motherboard problem or
it could be no problem at all. After all, computers are nothing but Pixie dust and mirrors.
