Beating a dead horse, maybe... but I'm finding the 'War For The Sands Chips" between sdscorp96 and jjb007 kinda fascinating. And, it's still going on.
There have been some interesting twists lately, too. Here's what I've been able to put together regarding the BLUE chips:
10/29 - SDS wins 3 of them for $26.52, $21.05, and $23.01. (I think he's the one who's building the Sands display.) Interestingly, on the $26.52 chip, JJB had bid on the chip, but quit at $7.77.
11/3 - JJB gets into the act and SDS wins the single chip of the day for a cool $197.27, forced by JJB's $189.77. 19 bids between the two of them. At this point, SDS is absolutely aware that this chip should not be selling for more than the mid-$20 dollar price range, although he probably is not aware that he could probably buy all he needs for his display for about $8 apiece. Also, for some reason, JJB now feels that he should not stop bidding at $7, and decides to extend himself up into the $190 range.
11/5 - SDS wins it at $100.07 vs. JJB... 7 bids between them, but JJB quits at $99.77.
11/6 - First chip, SDS wins at $99.99 when JJB stops bidding at $99.77. Again, 7 bids between them.
11/6 - a beautiful uncirculated specimen goes for $21.27 when JJB stops bidding at $20.77 and SDS ignores it altogether.
11/10 - after a few days with no Sands last issues being auctioned, there are two ending today. One is now at $78.77 with SDS beating out JJB again...
11/10 - ... the other one is a gorgeous uncirculated specimen which is now at $23.50, expiring 13 minutes before the one above, and is being totally ignored by both SDS and JJB. WHY???????
11/11 - There's one expiring tomorrow which is now at $13.25, also igmored by both of them.
11/12 - There are three expiring on Sunday. One is at $13.00 and one is at $14.00... these two are ignored by SDS and JJB. Another is now at $20.50 and SDS and JJB are going at it again. Interestingly enough, this auction that they're battling over on Sunday is IDENTICAL (same seller, same scan) to the one that is currently at $23.50 and is expiring today that they're both ignoring.
It seems pretty random, but when one of them notices a chip, the battle is engaged.
A similar scenario applies for the Orange chips... SDS wins one on 10/29 for $13.15 and on 11/5 he's bidding $225.00 for the same chip (and losing!)
Can anyone figure this out? I have to say it's very entertaining, but I'd LOVE to know what's going on.
