Don't misunderstand, I think this is a great country and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. But, one of the most important factors in making it great IS freedom of the news media. The judiciary having completely abdicated its role as a check on the executive and legislative branches, a free and vigorous press is now our best protection against government abuse.

I agree with the bulk of your post, but think Peter is right about releasing election results. I don't think the FEC has anything to do with that. Local jurisdictions release local results as they become available, pretty much without any outside control. ----- jim o\-S
