I too know of lawyers that quit criminal practice because they could not continue representing criminals. But that doesn't prove anything other than they should not have been in the practice. It would be a sad commentary on our system of criminal justice if we denied any accused the fundamental right to counsel. There are some people who say it is alright to represent innocent people but not guilty ones. Whether guilty or innocent we citizens have the right to counsel in any criminal matter. Mayor Goodman represented persons alledgedly members of organized crime. But that tells us nothing whether he is a good or bad lawyer; a good or bad man; a good or bad mayor. Peace.
