... I agree with both John and Michael regarding their auction comments.
John has chosen to adopt an ethical stance which is above the ethical standards that would normally be expected of an auction seller. I commend him for that (and glad to see that we have something to agree about for a change!). He has also drawn a reasonable distinction between high end material and common chips.
On the other hand, Michael has every right to expect high bidders to pay whatever they bid, regardless of whether it is too much or not, as long as his auction descriptions are accurate and honest. While I applaud John for his willingness to "remit" some of the high bids on common items, I don't think its appropriate to criticize others who are unwilling to do the same.
BTW, I have no problem with Michael's description of the Harrah's chip. ALL of the brass cores ARE getting hard to find -- they are very popular and no more are being made (by anyone at the moment). I wouldn't call the Harrah's $1 chip RARE <g>, but then Michael doesn't either. It is also one of my favorite chips and was the very first chip I ever collected. ----- jim o\-S
