...to this thread where a question is asked
regarding "original" molds and "original" inlays.
Many of us have seen these offerings.
One example that I first noticed and reported to
Howdy Herz who elaborately illustrated the "not
original" product side-by-side with an "original"
product, were the Mason HUB mold $25 Fremont Hotel
chips. Do we condider the "not original" product an
"original" product" Read on:
The slugs were in excellent condition, and the
inlays (at least the examples I inspected) were what
seemed to be discarded for quality control reasons
of being out of register. If the inlay was not of
original run, then, of course, we have a different
story. BUT, as in Pete's question, if they were
original, we still have a question + fact to contend
with regarding both molds and inlays being made by
the same manufacturer BUT not being completed by the
same manufacturer, legally. Do we call this an "original"
chip because both slug and inlay are original, or do
we call it a FAKE because of a later Illegal (?) assemlage, if
such the case?
BTW, Pete's question was one of the best questions
ever asked on this BB regarding if the practice
would be "wrong" -- but considering the HPA, we have
a little bit more to consider regarding what's
spelled out as being "original" concerning casino
chips. Too bad his question went over so many
heads.
