You were about to make an interesting point when your keyboard kinda got away from you. A lot of us non-scum have been in some dumps, too.
It is a good point that one cannot necessarily blame the closing of Silver City on the smoking prohibition. I think that if a casino does it right, it can have the best of both worlds. An example of this is Harrah's, Laughlin.
Harrah's has both smoking and non-smoking casinos on their property. The non-smoking is not just a few machines tucked into a corner. Both sections have a view of the river, the non-smoking provision is enforced courteously and well. I see no reason that it wouldn't work elsewhere if done right.
