The waves appear to end down in both types. I did notice that the middle 3 sails are jagged in all "small number" roulettes. The middle 3 sails are perfectly drawn in the "large number" type.

Without 2 different types to compare, just check the 3 sails to determine which type you have. It is apparent that the "small number" jagged sail is the older type

Top row are all older "small number" jagged sail type. The jagged sail may not be clear from the scan, but it's very clear.
