Below is a scan of the prices realized from Howdy's latest auction. This was an auction of a handfull of very good chips and the rest low to medium priced stuff. As is often the case with lower priced material, only a little over half the 267 lots got a bid or met the seller's reserve. Don't overlook Howdy's auctions as a way to add chips to your collection. You don't have to bid $100+ to get lots in these auctions.
Having said that, there WERE 8 lots that sold for over $400 a chip:
#70 Caesars Palace $5 first issue..........................$610
#82 Circus Circus Reno $500 form the 1980's................$880
#85 Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn portrait $5..................$664
#94 El Cortez 50c SmCrown with conquistador inlay..........$690
#121 Golden Gate $1 LgCRWN mold blue.......................$418
#166 MGM Desert Inn $500...................................$609
$168 The Mint, Las VEgas, $25 HORSESHU mold................$633
#235 Thunderbird Las Vegas H&C inlay.......................$400
Some of the Smith's North Shore Club $2.50 have finally shown up. One sold in this sale for $185.
Surprisingly, the older Caribbean chips did very well in this sale, with Bahamian club chips selling for $130 to $200 each and a $5 Isla Verde Beach chip form Puerto Rico (Paul-son metal inlay) selling for $116.
