The Hard Rock Brass Cores were originaly made for the HR Cafe gift shop before there was a casino. When the casino opened the brass cores made it into the new casino's gift shop. They do not say "Casino" on them.
What makes them worth very much to a casino chip collector? Just wondering.
Also in the casino's new gift shop was regular slot tokens being sold for over face. Somehow Gaming got involved over the tokens. Per a cage supervisor at the time, the agent ordered the tokens removed from the gift shop and noticed the brass cores. He ordered them removed also because they were 39MM and could be confused with a gaming chip. If not for the token issue, my guess is nothing would have been said about the brass cores. Per Mel, the BC's were sent back to LA. I have been told some were given to Pindex table people in 1999 when they registered to buy a table. They were glued on a paper weight.
Mel says 6,000 sets made, he usually knows what he is talking about when it comes to BC's. Whatever was not sold in the cafe gift shop and the 1st few months of the casino gift shop should be in LA. They are not something anyone would destroy. My guess is all 6,000 sets exist somewhere. Either in the hands of gift shop purchasers or in LA.
Just my thoughts.
