I sell a lot on ebay, autographs, chips, coins, etc. In my description, I clearly state that shipping is $5 for US Priority mail, insurance and delivery confirmaiton. (actual out of pock on package valued under $50 is $4.40, the other $.60 doesn't even cover the cost of packing materials and employee labor for packing. We charge the same amount even if the item is over $50 which means I lose money on shipping. Additionally, I always offer the purchaser the option to have the item shipped regular mail, without insurance or tracking for a substantial price decrease, HOWEVER, if they do so, it is at their own risk.
Of course, we also combine for shipping savings. Even with all of this information posted in the description, I have had a few people complain about the HIGH SHIPPING. I remind them of their options, and that takes care of it. I believe that what the dealer in this case did was excessive and unconscionable, but it was in the description, though it may have been "hidden."
However, you definitely did not get the benefit of what you paid for, and the method of shipment was misrepresented to you.
Better luck next time.
