Travis,
The packaging may have been poor and I would say it absolutely was for the amount charged. The charges are spelled out in the auctions, outrageous as they may be. I don't think Jim should have bid if he didn't want to pay the shipping. I know I wouldn't. But I wouldn't complain about it afterward if I did bid wheather I realized the charges or not.
I think it's a good idea to point out the seller's ridiculous shipping charges and poor shipping methods. I just don't think the negative feedback was warranted. Jim did get the chips in what I assume was good condition-he didn't complain about the condition of the chips just the packaging. And it was his own fault he paid the $17 shipping and handling. Is this the real reason he left the negatives?
If the chips were in four seperate padded mailers and carefully placed in a well taped priority box would the $17 shipping have been justified?
FROM Jim's Original post:
The fact that I paid $17 postage for 4 chips was my own fault, as the postage/handling charges were clearly disclosed and I simply overlooked them. Therefore, if the chips had arrived in four separate, well-protected or padded packages, I would have just bit my tongue and let it go. (No way this guy was getting positive feedback, but I wouldn't have neg'd him either.)
However, after thinking it over for about three weeks, I decided that the packaging he used, after charging $17 for shipping and handling, warranted negative feedback
