About PayPal:
(1) I think it is great for four reasons: (1) only the PayPal compnay knows your credit card number. In an auction situation, the seller never gets to know the buyer's credit card number. And you do not have to send the credit card number through the internet for each transaction, just the one time you set up with PayPal; (2) it is free for the buyer and the seller. Completely free. And if you use your credit card, you don't lose interest on your money, save a few days; (3) it is so quick; it save time, checks, postage, paper, etc. and (4) It is probably as honest and reputable as you can find. PayPal is backed by major, first-rate investment companies with enormous assets.
I don't know what will happen in a case of, say, eBay seller fraud, etc., but if you send a check, the money is gone. You have to sue to get justice. With a credit card, I wonder if you can put a stop to a transaction somehow, i.e., get a chargeback to a seller's (or PayPal's) credit card account. Just wondering.
(2) PayPal should explain things better. It is hard to find out the full story all in one place. I am afraid they will charge in the future, but it is free now, so use it. It is fun to use (that is, if you can log on). That $2000 maximum credit card usage in any 6 month period is a nuisance and surprise. I am now playing around with the bank transfer feature. Time will tell.
