The two most harmful drugs in the country are both legal (alcohol and tobacco) and we could eliminate nearly all of the drug-related property and personal injury crimes by legalizing and regulating the rest of them, too.

We should have learned our lesson with prohibition (which made possible the rise of the Mafia). We didn't, so now we have the drug lords (who are far more powerful and vicious than the Mafia ever dreamed of).

The sad fact is, society as a whole would probably be better off if we not only legalized drugs, but gave them free to any underachieving dirtbag who wanted them. At least then, they wouldn't have (or at least want) to rob, mug and murder the rest of us to get their dope money.

And, we'd save billions of dollars that are currently being wasted on a "war" that can't be won and will never end. ----- jim o\-S
