Joe Schmoo's autograph ... the real issue ...

... as I see it, Gene, is whether the chip would be worth more with the autograph than the hand-wrriten number? And do you have Joe's autograph in your collection?

Seriously, there is a difference in the two examples being discussed, but as I see it if the chips were truly produced in the altered form by the casino, then they are a legitimate variation. The mere fact that they might easily be counterfeited in that variation doesn't change that (albeit, it will probably makes their ultimate value less than the value would be for a comparable, engraved number chip).

Too bad these things were issued in Canada and not Nevada. Speaking of which, would Nevada gaming regs permit such an alteration and sale in gift shops?
