During my last visit to Las Vegas I went shopping at a supermarket. While I was there a fool with a gun proceeded to hold it up. As I was answering questions for the police I asked what crime was like in the city. Two police concurred that it is extremely high and violent.
It is my understanding that there have been 3 deaths in casinos since last November, including yesterdays. I consider this to be moe than significant. We have also had reports, here in Los Angeles, over the past couple of years of armed robberies that become more and more desparate, leading to believe that Las Vegas is NOT all that safe as proclaimed in Glen Puit's article in todays Review-Journal. I realize we don't want to scare away the tourists, but something will have to be done by local officials to stem the tide of crimes that are occurring on casino floors. To whitwash it as "insignificant" will not work as more and more senseless crimes scare off the tourists.
