Hi Jim,
Your attempt to compromise involving the Internationl - Chapter issue is magnanimous. However, certain issues can NEVER be
resolved by compromise. The issues I am discussing are the issues that go to the very foundation of our organization. In my opinion, the
International - Chapter issue is one of those issues.
No compromise can be accomplished when sovereignty of the "Mother" organization is traded for half hearted Chapter compliance. It
really is very simple - these are the rules if you choose to follow the rules than you may become an affliated Chapter. If you choose not
to follow the rules than you may not.
Compromise ONLY works on those issues that do not undermine the authority of the organization. Once you compromise authority,
you compromise essence. Generally, any issue that does not challenge sovereignty can be worked out. However, when a sovereign
organization compromises its authority and ability to maintain control, it compromises "everything". The organization must be in control
at all times. To create a situation to try to maintain the whole will only undermine and eventually destroy that what you are trying to
preserve.
I must agree with Neal and maintain a firm position involving issues of essence. I would not, could not, and will not compromise on this
type of issue. Issues like this come up within an organization about once every 8 to 10 years. Thank God! I don't think my being could
take it <g>.
Thank you for your note but I must regret to inform you that I like many members will not compromise the "authority & sovereignty"
for the sake of a chapter that wishes to dictate what it will and will not do under our organizations banner. Sorry!!! Best, Jim
