Guys:
As anyone who has published anything for our niche market knows, it's pretty hard to make any serious money. For the time it takes and the small quantities of books sold the amount of profit these guys make amount to less than minimum wage. You can just ask Campiglia/Wells how much they LOST. Even KMP with their low quantities produced of their chip books couldn't survive if they didn't have a trunk full of money stashed away. ;-)
There are others too. Dale Seymour publishes educational material for a living (in addition to renting out his house for movies) and he's produced a number of books for chippers. Ask him how little he's made.
Even my discussions with Carol Donley on her new slot book is costly to produce let alone the production and research time involved.
Don't be fooled. These people publish for the LOVE OF THE HOBBY! No one's going to get rich off of publishing. But I would bet that if anyone were, it would be Rene (that's not a cut-down). Let them know how much you appreciate their hard work and effort. Because I GUARANTEE, that if you've never done it before, you have NO IDEA what's these people go through to put out a quality product. Respect by their fellow hobbyists is the greatest compliment.
