Easy there my friend!
I'm still waiting for someone (anyone) to explain what benefits a local chapter receives from national.
Looks to me like the national club benefitted by having more members because people were being forced to join both organizations. It was a one-way street.
I see this as a freedom of association issue. The Colorado chapter was removed from the CC & GTCC because we didn't require membership in the national club. To my knowledge, none of the Colorado chapter members who were also national members at that time chose to quit national over this matter. We belong because we WANT to belong, NOT because someone said we HAVE to belong!
When the national club can show me what benefits a local collector receives by being a member of national, I might agree that national membership should be required. Until then, as long as a chapter pays chapter dues and maintains the ethical standards set forth in the club constitution and bylaws, they should be allowed to have chapter-only members.
Still friends!
Bob
