First, the obvious: most will post to and read from just one bulletin board. As has been said on this
board many times, chippers do not have the time or inclination to use more than one board. An
analogy could be made to eBay -- buyers will view, and sellers will list, only with the board with the
biggest audience. Trying to drill into chippers a distinction between club and non-club business will not
work. They just think of collecting chips. To them a CLUB convention is a place to vacation and buy
CHIPS. So they visit just one board.

If the Club wants a bulletin board, it will have to fight for an audience. They will have to find someone
who cares about it enough to promote it properly, improve it and encourage others to use it. One thing
it could do is have the officers (or agents of the officers) do more posting and chit chat there. It is a
disgrace that this is not done now. An example or two:

(1) The club currently has a recommended on-line digital logo (pictured below) that it wants members
to display on their web sites and eBay ads. Obviously, it is a good idea. Recently, I suggested an
improvement to the logo that would attract attention to the Club site and greatly help membership
recruitment -- add the words "founded in 1988, over 2000 members" to the logo and have a LINK (to
the Club site's home page and a membership application) incorporated into the logo. As I recall, there
was no thanks, not even a comment about this unimpeachable, excellent idea. No wonder collectors
ignore the site.

(2) Six months ago I was pressing for a change in the Club auction rules. I posted in on the Club
board and got some responses. It was my contention that allowing a minimum opening bid would
attract better merchandise and make for a more exciting auction. (Others had different views.) March
8, 2000, I sent a 5-page letter proposing auction rule changes to the four officers and Howdy Herz . I
immediately got a nice reply from Vice President Ken Hallenbeck (he was in favor of my proposal).
Six months have passed without any comment from anyone else. I don't even know if it was voted on or
even discussed. (I threw this into this post just to show how indifferent the officers seem to things at
times.)
