I just finished a book on growing vanda & ascocenda orchids in Florida. The author cautions the reader to keep a data base of your collection so that you don't have to rely on the thin plastic tags that identify what orchid cross you have. He offers no real solution to the replacement of these tags, so my wife suggested I use chips! I thought she was out of her mind until she explained that I could use some obsolete cruise line chips that I have laying around in a very large sack. She said to drill a hole in the chip, number it with a Sharpie so that it corresponds to my records & then attach the chip to the orchid basket with a piece of wire. It sounds like a go to me. Does anybody know what sort of a drill bit you need to make a hole in an inlaid chip? Larry the Deckman, I need all the help you can muster.
