Dave, I feel that you did the right thing. A partial refund was more than needed in this situation. Although I'm not an eBay 'expert', we have around 2,000 completed transactions in the past 2 years, I have found that no matter what you put in the description some people only read what they want to see!
Our billing invoice got to be almost a page long after trying to make it clear enought for even the most 'challenged' minds out there. Now I KISS them all......Keep It Short & Simple and that seems to help a little.
