A Mind Boggling Idea to Revolutionize the Hobby
I just thought of this idea and have not had time to think through all the implications. It blows my mind. I am in a hurry to keep an appointment now, so I will be brief.
Set up a Club-related web site to list chips for sale by chip code number. Let us use The Chip Rack as an example. Software and passwords will have to be developed. That should be easy. This should all be as easy as members entering their data in box fields for the Club directory.
This is what a seller will enter, and it will all fit on one line!:
(1) The Chip Rack chip number.
(2) the amount he will sell the chip for
(3) a code letter for the condition of the chip (say A. B. C. D and E -- the software will provide these options and definitions)
(4) the person's name (with a hyper text link to his e-mail address-standard letter form) (Maybe a shopping cart? Maybe the Club could make a small profit somehow?)
That is it. There would be one line for each entry. Surely, some chip numbers would have multiple entries -- one for each seller who lists the chip. What I suggest above is simple and very do-able. I am sure more elaborate setups could be envisioned -- listing by casino name, etc.
What an idea! It would prevent sellers from being "taken" by unscrupulous sellers. It could guide bidding on eBay. It could guide the makers of price guides. It would be a price guide in itself. It could be used for every chip with a chip code or ID # in a book -- Nevada chips, Atlantic City chips, ivory and clay poker chips, etc.
More later.
