When I visit my money in the Cayman Islands at least once a year, I come home with only $9,999.99. That gets by the customs form you have to file which asks if you are carrying any monetary instument which is worth more than $10,000.
I used to have a drug dealer client who made the mistake of visiting his money in Jamaica & came home with more than $10,000. He was busted as he got off the plane in Miami. The last I heard from him he was "vactioning' at some Air Force base in north Florida. His house, car, boat, & even his mountain bike were all confiscated by the Feds. Boy do I love that mountain bike of his!<g>
