Actually, I like the Club's auction as once per year event. It is a special night and it is kept special by nature of being the only auction we hold each year. In terms of fund raising I feel we have a number of other avenues we could take long before we'd ever have to look at the Auction.

That out of the way, there is something I need to add. If running for a Club office means that I have to pander to the tone and attitude of your remark, "I can forget you too." , then the job doesn't pay enough. The attitude has little to do with operating a club or holding an election, it was just plain rude.
